King Arthur
Synopsis
Rule your fate. Antoine Fuqua, the director of Training Day, takes a new look at the legend of the man – not the mythical figure but the "real" hero on whom stories have been inspired. The film attempts to put the tale into its historical context and is set at the time when the Roman Empire was crumbling and years of territorial battle have erupted between errant knights – until one king, the reluctant Arthur (Clive Owen), emerges to unite them and attempt to hold civilisation together. With Lancelot (Ioan Guffudd), Galahad (Hugh Dancey), Bors (Ray Winstone), Gawain (Joel Edgerton) and the other Knights of the Round Table, Arthur defends Britain against the threat of the invading Saxons and tries to lead it into a new age. Also by his side to help him change the course of history is a former enemy, Merlin (Stephen Dillane) and the beautiful and courageous Guinevere (Keira Knightley).

An interesting telling of the story, especially for thsoe who have heard something of the supposed 'Roman' origins of the historical King Arthur. Any, that aside, it was good to see a movie that wasn't a fantasy epic, but seemed more realistic than most of it's predecessors. The cast were well chosen, not huge A list stars, but many well known British players, with a good selection of international actors. The story was reasonably well paced, with plenty of action. But even so, it didn't seem to be all there, I can't exactly pick what was wrong, but the ending didn't fulfil my expectations. |

A great movie about King Arthur , the knights of the round table and the conquests that they endured. Loved it and would watch it again and again. |

Not bad. The worst problem with it is that the Lord of the Rings trilogy came out first. Many scenes and cinematography were very remenisant of LOTR. Having said that it was visually spectacular. |
