It is a beautifully made cartoon movie with a traditional type of dramatic story line about becoming adult,overcoming odds and good songs. The bows to the african context aren't too bad. I suppose somebody has to be bad, hence the demonising of hyenas. The monkey witch doctor grated a bit. Anthropomorphised animals are very much a part of traditional stories and brilliantly portrayed by Kipling for instance in more modern times. Not sure this lives up to the african legends or Kipling. Not enough grit or wit in the story.

Lion King is an absolute classic. The special edition, actually has more footage in it, and some parts are different to the normal one, which makes it a bit strange, but is quite alright. Main part different is an additional song. It's worth a look, and I know it kept my girls quiet as they watched it.

Had friends over on the weekend and the kidsa loved the movie. I also enjoyed watch it as well.

good movie for all ages. slightly scary for toddlers, suitable for slightly older children

Well what can i say still worth watching after all this time. A hit for the young at heart.

A nice family movie, with good music and lovable characters. There's probably a message, but it's not rammed down your throat.
