Battlefield Earth

Synopsis

It is 3000 A.D. Centuries have passed since Earth was invaded by the giant, gas breathing aliens from the planet, Psychlo. All memory of the invasion has been erased from human consciousness and replaced with the belief that the aliens are vengeful gods who have ruled for generations. Human beings are now divided into two surviving groups - those enslaved by the Psychlos and those hiding in remote isolation.

Jonnie Goodboy Tyler is a renegade human who has eluded enslavement, until he too comes under the savage rule of alien chief of security, Terl (John Travolta). Terl is impressed with Jonnie's skilful attempts at escape and spares him for a special project. Jonnie, however, has plans of his own and annihilation of his captors is just the beginning...

It's Mortal Kombat meets Independence Day in this explosive sci-fi action adventure starring John Travolta (The General's Daughter), Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan), Forest Whitaker (Species), Kim Coates (The Client) and with a special appearance by Kelly Preston (Jerry Maguire).

The movie, Battlefield Earth, starring John Travolta was an interesting science fiction movie. It didn't have a big budget which was evident from the special effects. It didn't have the intense suspense filled scenes that a more experienced movie director would weave into the plot.

A good story. Travolta plays a good part as a good-bad villan. I just really liked it. Great !!

This movie had so much promise. Some of the cinematography was of a very high standard but even some big name actors couldn't pull this one off. I don't know what Travolta's story was at the time?! Maybe he needed a quick buck to assist with funding his around-the-world exploits in his very own historic QANTAS B-707, but it really isn't a movie you'd expect him to be cast in. It's certainly not the worst movie I've seen him star in but nor was it one of his more memorable performances. Not a bad movie if you're a keen Sci-Fi buff but certainly not enough of a storyline to keep me entertained! If you like Travolta, give this one a miss because I dare say you won't be impressed! Try the movie "Phenomenon" instead!

Liked it...but I'm a sci-fi freak. Enough spaceships to keep me satisfied.
I wouldn't say it's one of John Travolta's finest hours, though.
I suspect John did it as a favour to L.Ron Hubbard's Scientology fraternity.

This movie was so pathetic, I didn't even watch it beyond about half an hour. It was corny, predictable, a filled with cliches and sickening appeal to fake ideals.

rent this if you are 15 or under. poor production values, poor acting, and a poor script make this a very poor film. called battlefield earth because it probably cost the earth to make, but probably did not make much in return.
